Transformations so far...
Journey people are no strangers to mission. For 5 years the partners in this venture fed as many as 80 children on the weekend who are at-risk for hunger, helping them to achieve more academically. For five other years we sponsored free after school mentoring programs for children in grades 1-4.
Partners have also provided groceries and hot meals for families in the margins, including dialysis patient’s families. Now our new food ministries will be supported by Journey Journey Station Restaurant operating at Journey Community Center. Dining there helps "meals with a mission'.
Our thrift store has held community “give aways” of clothing and more include hundreds of coats and shoes for children at Christmas. Jeans and backpacks have been given out at the beginning of school years. These efforts will continue and multiply with support of Journey Community Center.
Community enrichment for children are held (at no cost to them) such as rock painting parties, egg hunts, movie nights, trick or treat events. Teen have participated in our sponsored events such as camping, swimming, canoeing, and mission events. We have offered seniors free computer, budgeting classes and healthy eating classes. Our new indoor and outdoor spaces will enable these kinds of community outreach events to continue and grow.
